Slippery roads, wind and fog can often be the culprits for traffic accidents, but they aren't alone.

To keep you safe while driving, here are a few golden rules for winter conditions.

1. ADJUST YOUR SPEED TO ROAD CONDITIONS

Due to slippery roads, snow and/or ice between the tire and the road surface, grip is reduced, which is why it's extremely important to adjust your driving speed to road conditions and avoid skidding as well as possible loss of control.

2. AVOID LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE

To have control of your vehicle at all times, in addition to adjusting speed, it is crucial to avoid rushed movements as well as sudden acceleration and stopping. When stopping, gradually reduce gears on the vehicle and ensure you slow down safely while using the brake pedal gently.

Keep a safe distance from other cars and try to anticipate dangerous traffic situations, also remember to use turn signals to keep you and other drivers safe.

3. CHECK THE TIRES

Tire replacement is mandatory for all drivers in the winter months. Be sure to change your tires regularly as this will ensure your safety. Regular tire pressure monitoring is also very important, as insufficiently inflated tires don't react as well during sharp turns, which increases the risk of skidding and much more fuel consumption.

4. SAY NO TO YOUR PHONE WHILE DRIVING

Not using a mobile phone today is unimaginable, but also necessary. When it comes to your safety, talking to your boss, colleagues, friends or family, just like unanswered emails, can wait. To make driving simpler, let everyone know that you are currently driving and will contact them as soon as possible.

Be sure to consider wireless earbuds as well, or check your vehicle settings as you may also have built-in Bluetooth.

5. TIGHTEN YOUR SEAT BELT

In addition to avoiding fines, using a seat belt will protect your and other passengers' safety. Don’t forget that all passengers have to have their seat belt on even if you only go to the nearest store.

Follow laws and regulations, and to be completely safe, drive a Carwiz vehicle, with the ability to connect wirelessly to your mobile device as well as new, safe tires. Contact our wonderful staff to create an offer to fit all your needs.
